Marvel will reveal a Latino superhero by the end of the year, says Stan Lee
Appearing at the largest ComicCon-style conference in Latin America, Stan Lee dropped a super-bomb at the Conque convention in Queretaro, Mexico this week. Asked if there would ever be a hero to redress the social ills of Mexicans, Lee revealed this:
I wanted this to be a surprise, but I’m personally working on a Latino hero, that you’ll be seeing at the end of the year. I want to make him as good as I can, as different as I can.
Simon, holmes. If you say so.
He could do worse than updating kick-ass pulp-fiction charro El Coyote., dreamed up in the '40s by Barcelona writer José Mallorquí. Apparently this masked bad-ass was a favorite in, of all places, Scandanavia. MexFlix apologizes for being unable to completely explain this phenomenon, but it may have something to do with a Northern European obsession with the Old West.
While we wait for Marvel's big reveal, why not enjoy some of our favorite El Coyote covers.
